SIW

I had read about this util a while back and finally downloaded it and...it is pretty impressive - SIW

Just watch out for it wanting to install some goofy toolbar during the install. You can opt out of it. I am not sure if I would run this on a server or not but it makes for a nice desktop/n*book troubleshooting utility.

Windows XP and its crappy IPv6 stack

Tonight I had something strange happen that hasn't happened before - Windows XP's IPv6 stack stopped working on my wireless adapter. I kicked up Wireshark and saw Windows was sending ND packets but I guess they never went anywhere because nothing was responding. Other hosts on the network appeared to be working and the Netscreen appeared to be working ok. I have never seen that happen before. It may be a hint I need to just move to Windows 7 on the netbook.

Work started a(nother) group to try and get IPv6 going (since we have orders from elsewhere to do so). This is the first time I have been asked to participate in such a thing. I sent out a nice email to the lead in the group outlining some issues I think we need to work through before going much further as well as some possible issues we need to address in both a best practices POV as well as security. I am not sure if it was just because it was late Thursday and Friday the recipient was busy on Friday but it went unanswered. I am NOT the expert in this area but I at least wanted some counter-arguments or...something. I even offered to test for them (from home). In fact, I mentioned the work I had been doing on getting a Zeus appliance to work as a NAT64 device so we could put out IPv4 web server behind it and put it out there for IPv6 Day. Nada. Maybe I am jumping to the 5th or 6th square on them and they aren't ready?
